Sorry boys, didn't update the blog. Complete your spelling sentences and write down two sentences you have about food/diet/ sugary drinks etc. We have a dietician coming tomorrow so you will have a chance to get them answered!

All Year 7 boys are taking part in the Performance Assembly tomorrow and need to wear dress whites. Make sure your invite your parents/grandparents etc.

WEEK 4 PREP

Hi boys, I hope you have been amazing for Mrs Lovatt, that the Kids Sing boys sang beautifully and that the Colts games were tightly contested! Prep this week is only to learn your spelling words ( from last week) and silent read for 15 minutes each night. Good luck for the rest of the Wellesley games tomorrow!

Boys there seems to be a lot of prep on the blog tonight. Remember this is not all due tomorrow. Some is ongoing, some is due Wednesday and some you will have time to do in class. Remember to maximise your work output - use class time wisely to minimise the prep you need to complete at home. You should be doing 45 minutes per night - AN HOUR MAXIMUM!

WASN'T CAMP AWESOME! Remember to bring your togs back to school. Also Archie, Wesley and Kit you need to sign and return the BYOD agreement (see tab on blog).

No prep tonight- go to bed early so you are fresh for camp tomorrow! Wear your camp gear to school- remember if you are not wearing your poly props they need to be in your day pack along with your water bottles, raincoat,  woolen hat and any medication you require ( eg inhalers), plus sunscreen. The kitchen will have lunch ready to be packed into your daypacks in the morning. Looking forward to it, hope you are too!

It's time! Boys are able to bring in their iPads on Monday as long as they have signed the User Agreement form emailed to parents prior to school starting. Boys from last year do not need to sign another form. There will be some school provided devices for boys who do not have their own - I do not expect all boys to have their own device!
Please be aware not all work will be done on the iPads and also that it is your privilege, not your right, to do so. Use them incorrectly and the privilege will be taken away! Please ensure all iPads have the following apps loaded:
Popplet (not lite)
PicCollage
Chrome
A dictionary of some sort. 
I will let you know of any others as the need arises. Predominantly we will be working using Google Docs. The boys have a school email address first initial then surname eg kfield@hereworth.school.nz

Remember to learn your Spelling words for tomorrows test. Also the first chapel service for the year is on Sunday evening at 7pm. Boys are expected to attend two per term. A roll of who attends is kept!

Prep is to be completed nightly Monday-Thursday. Prep given will usually be work started in class so it is up to boys to maximise work output in class and in doing so...reduce prep! As discussed today, managing prep is about learning to prioritise tasks and manage your time. Work needing to be completed tomorrow takes priority over work due next week - but spend  a little time on next weeks prep too - little and often rather than a last minute rush! If you feel you are getting behind you may need to spend the occasional lunchtime in the classroom or library catching up. If you are feeling snowed under - come and see me!

Have you thought about what it means to be a New Zealander and what makes living in New Zealand unique? Have a talk about this with your family -consider what life is like in New Zealand compared to what it is like in other countries of the world. We will discuss this in class on Friday. Another great day with most boys really stepping up! Remember 45 minutes is the expectation for prep - please do not spend hours working at home - unless work is unfinished because of poor work output in class. Spending time with your families, playing outside etc are all so important. Life balance is the key!
